Gunmen have abducted Laure Mai Kunu, mother of AbdulSalam Abdulkarim Zaura, a businessman and a candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Kano Central Senatorial District.

Security sources told journalists that Hajia Laure Mai Kunu was picked at her residence in Rangaza area in Zaura village of Kumbotso local government area of Kano metropolis.

The spokesman of the Police Command in Kano, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the incident to The Guardian.

Kiyawa said Laure was abducted around 1:30 am on Monday, adding that the Commissioner of Police has ordered a manhunt to rescue, and arrest the assailants.

The police spokesman appealed for calm and assured that the aged woman would be rescued unhurt.
