IGP orders officers to be visible, approachable

IGP Tunji Disu

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, has ordered officers to be visible, approachable, and accountable at all times.

He gave the directive during the decoration of newly promoted officers in Abuja yesterday, stressing that the era of policing that alienates the people was over, and calling on officers to drive reforms within their areas of responsibility.

The IGP announced that a retreat to bring newly promoted Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) in tune with the reforms, organised by the Police Force Secretariat in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), would commence today.

He also stated that the ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional visibility, deepen community engagement, and reinforce public trust have reached advanced stages.

Consequently, the force would be hosting the second National Police Day on April 7, 2026.
