Worried about the current national and international economic turbulence that has crippled many businesses, the Association of Industrial Pharmacists of Nigeria (NAIP) will from tomorrow Tuesday (July 13) to Friday (July 16), 2021 hold its 24th Annual National Conference (ANC) at the Lagos Marriot Hotel, GRA Ikeja to brainstorm on achieving self-sufficiency on medicines in Nigeria.

The theme of the conference is ‘Technological Revolution- Adaptation in Industrial Pharmacy Practice’. NAIP National Chairman, I. K. Anukwu, in a statement, said the keynote address would be delivered at the opening ceremony on Wednesday by the Industrial Pharmacy Section (IPS) President of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), Sola Solarin.

The address is expected to explore and recommend initiatives and strategies that would not only improve the practice but also make businesses survive economic downturn.

Anukwu said top government functionaries, policy makers and captains of the pharmaceutical industry would be in attendance.
He said the conference would feature two plenary sessions focused on perspectives to drive self-sufficiency on medicines in Nigeria.

“Other activities will include radio and television enlightenment campaign against drug abuse and counterfeiting of medicines, zonal dynamics and the Annual General Meeting (AGM)/Election of our noble association. We shall also take out time to have an excursion and pay a visit to the Oba of Lagos State,” he said.

NAIP is a technical arm of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) and the professional body of all pharmacists in the industrial sector. NAIP has over 280 companies as corporate members.

Tagged eko2021, the conference will have Chairman, Board of Directors, Access Bank, Dr. Dere Awosika, as the chairman of the opening ceremony; and PSN President, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, as chief host.
