Operatives of Police Force have arrested a 28 years old suspected bandit with recovery of dangerous weapons in Bichi Local Government Area of Kano state.
The suspected bandit identified as Mohammed Isah Haruna, was picked at Rimawya village, Bichi after an intelligence report.
According to the Police, the suspect was intercepted on Saturday, 12th July, 2026 at about 1800hrs, by operatives of Bichi Division who acted promptly on credible information from a good Samaritan regarding a person seen wearing a suspected military uniform at Rimaye Village, Bichi LGA.
“During a search, the following exhibits were recovered in his bag, One (1) AK-47 Magazine loaded with 30 rounds of live ammunition; Seventy-nine (79) rounds of AK-47 live ammunition; Two (2) sets of suspected Military Uniforms; Three (3) Military Caps; One (1) suspected Fake Military ID Card; One (1) National ID Card, One (1) NIN Slip, One (1) Voter’s Card; Four (4) ATM Cards and One (1) Pair of Desert Boots”. The release signed by police spokesperson said.
The Police revealed that the suspect during an interrogation confessed to being in the area for the purpose of onward delivery and supply of the recovered items to bandits operating in the bush.
In the statement, the Commissioner of Police in Kano, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, commended the Rimawa Community for their vigilance and for promptly reporting to the Police.
He said the arrest underscores the importance of community partnership in policing. We appreciate the Rimawa Community and all good people of Kano for their support. Security is a collective responsibility,” CP Bakori stated.
According to the police, the suspect is currently in custody adding that discreet investigation has commenced to apprehend other suspects and dismantle the criminal networks.
He said the case will be charged to court upon completion of investigation noting that the operation was in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, reassuring the Command commitment to sustaining intelligence-led and community-centric policing across the 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State.
