Troops of Operation Thunder Strike, on Friday, captured three bandits and rescued two women kidnapped in Gwagwada District in Chikun Local Council of Kaduna State.
The Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, in a statement, said the women were abducted on their way to their farms, and upon receiving information about the incident, troops on patrol tracked down the criminals and engaged them in a firefight, forcing them to abandon their captives and run for their lives.
Aruwan added: “After securing the women, the troops pursued the bandits and destroyed their camps. They were trapped in Gajina settlement, also in Chikun Local Council.
“Three kidnappers were also apprehended and are now in custody, while the rescued women have returned to their homes.”
Aruwan, however, said patrols would continue in these areas.
He disclosed that the troops and the newly inducted troops of the Nigerian Army Women Corps have continued aggressive patrols along the Kaduna-Abuja highway. The Patrol was hitch-free, with no incidents recorded as of Friday.
In a related development, police personnel rescued two persons, who were abducted at Kurmin Idon axis of Kaduna-Kachia Road in Kajuru Local Council.
