
The governor’s aide stated yesterday in Lokoja: “A federal institution was attacked. That notwithstanding, the response to the attack was fantastic. About 120 of the inmates have been re-arrested. We are moving very fast to make sure we get them all back into the cell because that will rebuild confidence.”
He admitted that the incident might have been thoroughly planned, adding that high profile criminals were released during the break.
However, former Department of State Services (DSS) director, Dennis Amachree, blamed the lack of structures and processes for the jailbreak, adding that the incident said a lot about the country’s criminal justice system.
