Lagos Police parade 14-year-old girl for killing toddler

Foil 16 armed robbery incidents, arrest 62 robbery suspects

Lagos State Police Command, yesterday, paraded a 14-year-old girl, who strangled her mistress’ six-month-old son, Jayden Osokolo to death on February 6, 2022.

  
The suspect, Chiamaka Odo, confessed to being a member of the Ogoloma cult group in Enugu, Enugu State.
   
Odo, who was paraded alongside other suspects at the Command’s Headquarters, Ikeja, said members of the cult group requested her to bring the blood of the deceased to the spiritual world. 
     
Also, the police arrested 27-year-old Desmond Igana who is the leader of the armed robbery gang in Ikeja on February 22, 2022,  while he and other members of the gang were going for another robbery operation.
     
The command further paraded two female cultists nabbed with arms, hard drugs tucked under bra.
 
 
30-year-old  Blessing Gabriel, suspected to belong to an armed robbery gang was also picked up on February 18, 2022, by detectives after other members of the gang, who were earlier arrested, led police detectives to her hideout at Satellite Town.
  
During her arrest, a miniature English pistol concealed in a bag and substance suspected to be hard drugs tucked under her bra were recovered.
  
Similarly, operatives of the command on  February 18, 2022,  arrested 26-year-old Umoru Galadima and 36-year-old Celestine Igwe aka Ofor.
   
The two armed robbery suspects attacked shop owners and robbed them of their valuables at Satellite Town, Festac.
   
Also arrested in the course of the investigation were 25-year-old Ikechukwu Chikwau on February 18, 2022, 28-year-old Aleke Onyeka who was arrested on February 27, 2022, 25-year-old Anthony Nwachukwu on March 6, 2022, and 32-year-old Odo Solomon on February 9, 2022. The Command said the suspects are among a gang of cultists responsible for the spate of rival cult clashes in Satellite Town and its environs.
    
The command also paraded a 19-year-old armed robbery suspect identified as Golden Esone, who was arrested with a brownie pistol on January 27, 2022.
     
His confession led to the arrest of other members of the gang at different locations in the Iju Ishaga area of the state.  
     
Ajisebutu said investigation revealed that the suspects, 35-year-old Olawale Yususf Quadri, 30-year-old Oladunjoye Akorede, 30-year-old Abiodun Agbaje and 25-year-old Mukaila Toheeb who were also paraded belong to various cult gangs.
     
He said while all the four suspects have been charged to court, Mukaila Toheed, a self-confessed cultist belonging to Aye Confraternity who was arrested recently is helping detectives in their investigation.
      
The command also said it foiled 16 armed robbery incidents and arrested 62 armed robbery suspects, between January 24 and March 1, 2022.

The outgoing Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, who addressed newsmen at the command, said the 50 armed robbery suspects were charged to court after a diligent investigation was carried out.
   
Ajisebutu said the command’s efforts in curbing cultism in the state also yielded results as about 104 suspected cultists were arrested.
    
He stressed that 98  of the suspected cultists were charged to court, while others are currently under close watch.
