Lagos State Police Command, yesterday, paraded an ex-convict working as a guard at Ojota New Garage for being in possession of two stolen 2.8 KVA generators.

The 35-year-old suspect, Yekini Opeyemi, was arrested at about 4:00 a.m. near Odo-Iya Alaro, Ojota by officials of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) at the weekend.

He was arrested in the company of others, now at large, trying to load one Firman and Tigmax generator, 2.8 KVA each, into a Volkswagen Golf car. The driver on sighting police officers sped off, leaving Yekini behind.

The Command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin,  said Yekini arrived in Lagos last week and was employed as a security guard at Ojota New Garage.

When accosted, Yekini, who has been imprisoned on four different occasions for separate incidents, could not give any satisfactory explanation about the generators.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, while commending the RRS Commander, Yinka Egbeyemi, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti for further investigation and prosecution.
