The President of the MAAUN Group of Universities, Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, has expressed condolences to the government and people of Jigawa State over the death of the Emir of Gumel, Dr Ahmad Muhammad Sani II.
In a statement he personally signed and issued to journalists, Gwarzo described the late Emir as a widely loved and respected traditional ruler who enjoyed the loyalty and affection of his people throughout his 46-year reign.
He said the monarch’s long reign and the respect he commanded reflected his commitment to leadership and service to his people.
“A leader who is loved this way by his people after more than 46 years on the throne says a lot about his good leadership, commitment and service to the people. This is worthy of emulation by all traditional rulers and those entrusted with positions of authority,” Gwarzo said.
On behalf of himself and the entire MAAUN community, Gwarzo extended his condolences to the government and people of Jigawa State, particularly the Gumel Emirate and the family of the late monarch.
“His death has created a huge vacuum that cannot be filled easily. May Allah SWT forgive his shortcomings, grant him eternal rest and admit him into Aljannatul Firdaus,” he prayed.
Gwarzo also prayed for Allah to grant the Emir’s family, the Gumel Emirate and the people of Jigawa State the fortitude to bear the loss.
