The Reset Nigeria Movement, a political group backing the presidential ambition of Oyo State Governor and Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, has urged Nigerians to unite and chart a new direction for the country.
In a statement by its National Coordinator, Reset Agents, Osi Iwenekhai, described the movement as an ideological drive aimed at changing the narrative of governance and development in Nigeria.
Iwenekhai said the movement was not about returning the country to the past but about restoring confidence in Nigeria’s future through purposeful and accountable leadership.
He noted that the movement was being championed by Makinde, who declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the APM on May 14, 2026.
According to him, the Reset Nigeria agenda is focused on economic growth, job creation, education, healthcare, infrastructure development, power sector reforms, security and institutional strengthening.
He said, “When people hear, reset Nigeria”, some may be skeptical. Nigerians have heard grand promises before, and for too many, the “change” delivered has fallen short of the “hope” sold. Others may think “Reset” simply means going back to the past.
“Reset Nigeria is not about returning to yesterday. It is about restoring confidence in our future. It is a commitment to build the Nigeria we should already have, a nation where leadership is accountable, institutions are strong, the economy creates opportunities, security is guaranteed, and every citizen can live with dignity and hope.
“The need for a reset is evident in the everyday experiences of Nigerians. According to him, families are struggling with the rising cost of living, businesses are under pressure, too many young people cannot find meaningful opportunities, insecurity continues to threaten lives and livelihoods, and confidence in public institutions has weakened.
“Nigerians have yet to experience the progress they expected in their daily lives under the current administration.
“Reset Nigeria means changing the direction of governance to deliver better outcomes, restoring trust in public institutions, securing lives and property, growing an inclusive economy, creating opportunities for young people, and building institutions that are stronger than any individual or political party.”
While calling on Nigerians to join their ranks in reclaiming the future, the group believe leadership is the decisive factor in turning vision into reality.
He added, “That is why we believe Governor Seyi Makinde possesses the experience, competence, character, and proven record of governance required to lead this national task.
“His record of delivering measurable results, strengthening institutions, managing public resources responsibly, and putting people at the centre of governance gives us confidence that he has the capacity to lead Nigeria’s next chapter.”
He further stressed that Reset Nigeria is bigger than any individual, it is a national movement driven by the shared desire of Nigerians for a better, more prosperous and more secure future.
