The Mayor of Urhoboland, Eshanakpe Israel, has urged the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan to intervene in the ongoing crisis thrown up with the award of pipelines surveillance security of the OML 30 and 34.

The call is in furtherance to the mayor’s protest to heads of security agencies in the country, Urhobo traditional institution and the pan socio-cultural organisation of Urhoboland, the Urhobo Progressive Union (UPU) on the contract awarded Zane Energy, a company allegedly own by Jimmy Omo-Agege.

Israel, stated this at a meeting of critical stakeholders in Lagos, noting that he has written to the Senate President concerning the alleged hijack of pipeline security of OML 30 and 34, which he described as exclusive preserve of ex-militants as depicted in the awards of same contracts to Tomopolo and Chief Ayiri Emami due to the fact that they are ex-militants.

He called on the senate president to ensure the company relinquishes the pipeline contract for him (Israel) on behalf of the teeming youth population of Urhoboland.

The Mayor added that if the surveillance contract of OML 30 and 34 had been awarded him, he would have reigned in many ‘big criminals’ who he said wheel and deal in stolen national oil wealth by now.

“There are so many areas of leakages along the Urhobo and Isoko corridors. It takes a man like me who is driven by national solidarity and loyalty to work and achieve such humongous results like the Tantita Security Services did few days after the contract was awarded them,” he stated.
