The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund) has disbursed a total of N165,849,300 to 2,522 students of the Nigerian Army University, Biu (NAUB), Borno State, under the Federal Government’s student loan scheme for the 2025/2026 academic session.
This was disclosed in an acknowledgement letter dated June 29, 2026, addressed to the Managing Director of NELFund, Akintunde Sawyerr by the Office of the Registrar of the university.
According to the letter, the disbursement comprised N141,540,300 for 2,160 students and N24,309,000 for an additional 362 students who successfully underwent verification and screening.
The university noted that the payments were received through its Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) account.
A breakdown of the disbursement showed that the first tranche of N141.54 million was paid on March 25, 2026, while the second tranche of N24.31 million was paid on May 26, 2026, bringing the total amount disbursed to N165.85 million.
NAUB commended the management of NELFund for the intervention, describing it as a significant support mechanism for students seeking access to higher education.
“We also wish to commend the management of NELFund for this intervention, while we look forward to further mutual cooperation,” the university stated in the letter signed by the Deputy Registrar (Establishment), Ibrahim Bulama Bukar, for the Registrar.
The latest disbursement adds to the growing list of tertiary institutions benefiting from the Federal Government’s student loan programme, which was established to ease the financial burden on students and expand access to quality tertiary education across the country.
