A non-governmental organisation, Rarduja International has solicited the support of Imo State government on the campaign against illegal migration and unplanned journey abroad by Nigerians.

The group disclosed that Nigeria ranks among the countries with highest number of illegal immigrants across Europe and other developed nations, adding that “the government should as a matter of urgency intensify efforts to address the ugly situation.”

The group made the disclosure during a courtesy visit to the state governor, Emeka Ihedioha in Owerri, yesterday.
According to the President and founder of the group, Eddy Duru, the visit was to bring to the attention of the governor the menace of unplanned journey abroad by most Nigerians, especially those of Imo origin whose fate cannot be guaranteed in their pursuit of greener pastures.

Ihedioha represented by his Senior Special Adviser on Diaspora, Prof. Chudi Uwazuruike reiterated the commitment of his administration at ensuring ideal governance that would encourage Imolites, especially the youths to strive for better lifestyle at home.
