President and Executive Dean of NiBS, Prof. Kwaku Atuahene-Gima

Nobel International Business School (NiBS) in Accra, Ghana, has announced that it would begin classes for its DBA degree programme in Lagos from February 2019.

CEO Magazine 2018 ranks the programme, which is offered in affiliation with the SBS Swiss Business School, Zurich, Switzerland among the Top 20 schools in the Global DBA Rankings. It is designed and customised to prepare busy business professional executives for an internationally accredited doctorate degree.

Addressing the media in Lagos, President and Executive Dean of NiBS, Prof. Kwaku Atuahene-Gima, said: “For the past four years, the programme has been offered at the NiBS campus in Accra for executives from across Africa, with many of them commuting from Lagos to Accra for classes.

“To make access easier, we have decided to bring the programme closer to Nigerian executives by opening classes in Lagos.”

On the programme itself, he said: “executives come into the 3-year part-time programme with live business problems and opportunities that they wish to resolve through applied research. It also helps executives to develop the ‘practitioner-scholar’ ability to navigate new business challenges faced by their companies or profession.

Atuahene-Gima added that the programme develops the research, publishing and teaching capacity of executives who would like to teach in universities. He explained: “Last April, we graduated 11 students, two from Nigeria and on December 22 2018, we will award degrees to another 23 students who have just completed their theses.”

Vice President of NiBS, Prof. Per V. Jenster, added that on the average, only about 35 per cent of executives complete a part-time doctoral programme.

He disclosed: “At NiBS, we achieved 50 per cent with our first cohort and are poised to achieve 90 per cent completion rate on December 22 with our second cohort. We facilitate success in completing your Doctorate without interrupting your work by offering a cohort model of admission, a modular delivery format of a few days every few months, the provision of dedicated research assistants, doctoral thesis writing seminars and other features specifically designed to ensure high completion rates.

Jenster said NiBS gives you the perfect platform to leverage your experience, expertise and insights to do what you have always wanted to do. This, he, said includes “making an original contribution to industry and the profession by redefining and advancing knowledge and areas of practice.”
