Renowned philanthropist and businessman, Mr Joe Akhigbe, celebrated his 60th birthday by visiting Lion’s Motherless Children’s Home in Lekki, bringing joy and support to the children.
The celebration was filled with fun and excitement as Akhigbe joined the children in dancing and participating in a lively dance competition. Several children showcased their talents during the competition, receiving special gifts for their efforts.
As part of his humanitarian gesture, Akhigbe donated N1 million to the home, alongside essential supplies including cartons of noodles, mattresses, diapers, laundry materials, and various food items. His family and friends also contributed generously to the home.
Addressing the children, Akhigbe offered words of encouragement, urging them to focus on their studies and aim for excellence. He expressed joy at reconnecting with the home, saying, “We were here ten years ago, and we are here today.”
He pledged a yearly donation of N500,000 to support the children’s education, a promise that drew applause and gratitude.
Reflecting on the occasion, Akhigbe expressed his appreciation: “Thank you for the opportunity to spend time with the children; it’s a privilege to be here.”
Caroline Inegbedion, Director of the Lagos State Government Motherless Babies Home, expressed gratitude for Akhigbe’s gesture, wishing him continued good health and prosperity.
Later in the day, Akhigbe hosted a grand reception at a prestigious hall in Victoria Island, Lagos. Making a stylish entrance alongside his family, he danced into the hall to the sound of a live band, while attendees praised God for His faithfulness in Akhigbe’s life.
The event began with an opening prayer led by Anglican Bishop, Reverend Gabriel Elaho, and was attended by high-profile personalities, reflecting Akhigbe’s influence and extensive network.
Throughout the evening, heartfelt tributes were shared by friends, family, and colleagues.
His wife, Ann Akhigbe, and daughter, Ilu Akhigbe, spoke fondly of him, while Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire, representing Ondo Central, praised Akhigbe as a remarkable individual.
Visibly elated, Akhigbe attributed his success to God, hard work, and discipline, stating, “It can only be God.”
