The Osun State Police Command has arrested a commercial motorcycle operator, Jegede Oladapo, over the alleged sexual assault of a 19-year-old woman in the Ada area of the state.

The Guardian learnt that the suspect, who is currently in custody at the Police Area Command in Osogbo, was tracked and arrested after the incident, which reportedly occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2026.

According to sources, the victim, identified as Shindara (not real name), had hired the suspect to convey her from Ada to Ilesa after she was unable to find a bus at the park.

The suspect allegedly diverted from the route and attacked her in a secluded area.

Narrating her experience, the victim said: “Suddenly, the Okada man stopped the motorcycle in the middle of a lonely road and requested for my phone number.

I found it suspicious… As I was making a secret phone call to my guardian, the Okada man made a turn into the bush… I was screaming but there was no one around.”

She said her guardian later mobilised assistance after hearing her distress call, adding that she was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership (CACOL) has petitioned the Osun State Government, the Commissioner of Police and the State House of Assembly, calling for the prosecution of the suspect.

CACOL Chairman, Debo Adediran, in a petition dated February 4, 2026, also urged the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice to take over the case from the police.
