Four suspected kidnappers killed in police operation

The police in Delta State have confirmed the killing of four suspected kidnappers during a joint operation with local hunters and anti-cult volunteers in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Council.

The spokesperson for the command, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed the incident yesterday, stating that the operation took place yesterday, at about 3:00 p.m., following credible intelligence on the activities of the suspected kidnappers along the Abraka railway axis.

“Joint operatives comprising the police, hunters, vigilante, and anti-cult volunteers engaged the suspected kidnappers and recovered one AK-47 rifle, along with 13 rounds of live ammunition,” Edafe said.

He added, “During the gun duel, four of the suspected kidnappers were shot and later gave up the ghost, while others escaped with gunshot injuries.”

During preliminary investigations, a recently rescued kidnapped victim identified one of the deceased suspects as a leader of the gang responsible for his abduction.
