No fewer than 30 villagers have been reportedly killed, scores abducted as bandits unleashed a fresh terror attack on Dutsin Dan Ajiya community of Anka Local Government Area in Zamfara State.

This medium gathered that the incident occurred late Thursday, February 19, 2026, around midnight, with no security operatives present to rescue the innocent community members.

It was also gathered that the gunmen on motorcycles blocked the roads and started shooting sporadically along the axis.

The attack followed a separate assault at Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State, where 33 lives were claimed.

Some security analysts highlighted persistent threats in rural north-west Nigeria, particularly in Katsina, Kaduna, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara States, saying that community members have been calling for increased military and intelligence operations.

Authorities have not yet released any official report regarding the incident or the number of casualties and missing persons.

Recall that the attack on innocent people in Anka Local Government was imminent when the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, was in Zamfara State on an official assignment, where he launched 25 armoured personnel carriers and surveillance drones.

The minister, in his address to the troops of Operations Fansan Yamma, said that the Federal Government reiterates its commitment to restoring peace in the country.
