A female member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has died after a camp activity in Maiduguri, Borno State.

The Guardian learnt that the corps member died last Monday evening at a hospital following an evening parade drill at the scheme’s temporary orientation camp.

Confirming the incident, the NYSC State Coordinator, Alhaji Nasir Bello, said the corps member reported to camp with an underlying ailment and was later confirmed dead at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.

He clarified that the death did not occur during the parade drills.

When asked about the nature of the ailment, he declined to disclose details, stating that it was not within his authority to make such information public.
