Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe) has recovered over 20 cows from a cattle rustler after injuring the guard and escaping with the animals at a ranch in Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode.
The Corps’ Commander, Dr Soji Ganzallo, disclosed this in a statement made available by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Adegunwa Adegbuyi, an Assistance Commander, in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Ganzallo said on March 17, 2026, about 1.30am, So-Safe received a distress call from a resident of Ifesowapo community of a purported cattle rustling at a ranch within the community. In a swift response, he added, the State Commander radioed the Ijebu Zonal Commander, Yemi Odukoya, to mobilise a special squad and immediately set out for the location.
“On getting to the ranch, the rustlers had violently assaulted and injured the guard on duty and escaped with 20 cows. Instantly, the team went in pursuit of the assailants.
“However, on realising the chase, the suspects abandoned the herd and escaped to a nearby bush,” the commander disclosed.
He noted that all the cattle had been recovered and handed over to owner and the injured guard taken to an undisclosed hospital for proper medical attention.
Ganzallo assured on efforts to track and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
He reiterated the essence of collaboration among stakeholders of any community in curbing crime, while thanking members of the community for giving prompt and reliable information.
The commander also encouraged persistence in the cordial relationship between the residents and the Corps.
