The Oyo State Police Command has recovered a vehicle reported stolen in Ibadan and arrested a 21-year-old suspect in Gombe State following an intelligence-led operation.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday in Ibadan, saying the vehicle, reported stolen on July 29, 2026, was tracked to Gombe State after a coordinated investigation.

According to the police, the suspect, identified as Daniel Chinada Obidiukwu, was arrested on August 3, 2026 in possession of the vehicle.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect allegedly stole the vehicle in Ibadan and drove it to Gombe State with the intention of selling it to an unsuspecting buyer.

The police said the vehicle had been recovered and taken into custody as an exhibit, while the suspect remains in custody pending the conclusion of investigations.

The command added that efforts were ongoing to identify and apprehend other persons who may have been connected with the crime, noting that the suspect would be charged in court upon the completion of investigations.

Commending the operatives involved in the operation, the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, restated the command’s commitment to tackling crime through intelligence-led policing and collaboration with security agencies across states.

He assured residents that the command would continue to pursue criminal suspects wherever they may be found in order to safeguard lives and property.

The commissioner also urged members of the public to support the police by providing timely and credible information that would aid crime prevention and effective law enforcement.
