Members of the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) have advocated a more inclusive and innovative aviation industry.
Speaking during the 2026 International Women’s Day held in Lagos recently, National leader NAAPE Women’s Commission Kyola Dyaji reflected on the progress made so far and the work that still laid ahead. She emphasised that increasing opportunities and representation for women remainedvan important priority, citing that when more women participate, lead and innovate in aviation, the entire industry benefits from stronger ideas, richer perspectives, and more inclusive growth.
With the theme:, ‘Give to gain,’ she recognised the role of mentors, allies and organisations that actively support Women’s advancement in aviation and called all stakeholders to keep the industry safe, innovative, and connected.
On his part, Visiting Researcher at the Centre for Socially Engaged Theatre University of Regina Canada, Olusola John spoke on, ‘Emotional intelligence.’ Stating that emotional intelligence determines our success and impacts on our performance. he also identified some components of emotional intelligence as, self awareness, awareness of others, authenticity, emotional resilient and self management.
Head Of Department, Electronics Communication Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) Uchechi Edosomwan spoke on, ‘Personal development.’ Describing personal development as a journey and strategic tool for growth. She admonished everyone to conduct a SWOT analysis, do smart goals, create workplace structure, set a timeline and be a better version of themselves everyday.
There was also a panel discussion at the event. The panellists include, Chief Executive Officer Mamaj Aviation Consult Limited- Joy Ogbebo; Captain Ronke Rotimi-Olajide, Chief Executive Officer Aviatrix Hub – Victoria Adegbe, State Safety Programme Specialist at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Kate Nnanna-Ibemgbo; CAMO Manager at Skyroot Aviation Limited- Engr. Maureen Ameh-Udale
The event was moderated by pubilc sector professional, Oluchi Tamara Enenmo. Present at the event were representatives of MD Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Rector, Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), DG Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) among others.
