Adamawa man held over alleged murder

The Lagos State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on criminal hideouts across the state under the ongoing Operation Ko S’AYE III, leading to the arrest of 147 suspects and the recovery of various weapons and other exhibits.
 
The command said that on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at about 5:30 a.m., a joint team of operatives drawn from different formations carried out coordinated raids on criminal hideouts at Boolar, Super Ile-Epo and other identified black spots across the state.

During the operation, police arrested 147 suspects. Items recovered included 250 expended cartridges, two knives, one lighter, five battle axes, one pair of scissors, 22 machetes, assorted charms and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to the continuous implementation of Operation Ko S’AYE, stressing that the exercise would be sustained across the state to deny criminals safe havens and ensure the safety and security of residents.
   
Fatai also urged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to assist the police in identifying criminal hideouts, apprehending offenders and improving public safety across Lagos State.
 
Meanwhile, the Adamawa State Police Command has arrested Abubakar Musa over the alleged murder of 30-year-old Nathaniel Yusuf of Jambutu Ward in Yola North Local Council.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said in a statement that the arrest followed a report lodged at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Kofare, by Grace Yusuf, the deceased’s sister.
 According to him, Yusuf reported that her brother had been attacked by the suspect.

“Acting swiftly on the report, police operatives responded to the distress call, visited the scene, rescued the victim and rushed him to the Specialist Hospital, Jimeta, for urgent medical attention. The suspect was also arrested at the scene,” he said.
 
Nguroje said preliminary investigations revealed that the victim sustained severe injuries, including fractures to both legs, his right hand and head, after he was allegedly attacked with a stick by the suspect.

“Despite efforts by medical personnel to save his life, he was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor while receiving treatment,” he added.
 
He disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, Kabiru Hassan, had directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yola, to take over the case and ensure a thorough investigation and diligent prosecution of the suspect in accordance with the law.
 
“The deceased’s body has been deposited at the medical facility for an autopsy, while the investigation is ongoing.
 
“The command reassures the public of its commitment to ensuring justice and urges residents to remain law-abiding and continue to support the police with credible information that will aid ongoing investigations,” he said.
