A police officer attached to an escort van was burnt to death in an auto crash that occurred at the Iyana Obafe axis of the Sagamu–Siun–Kabape–Abeokuta Expressway in Ogun State.
Three persons also sustained varying degrees of injuries from the accident
Involved in the crash is a bullion van that belong to Bemil and two toyota hilux escort and a Silo truck with registration number: KRD 945 YL.
Spokesperson of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency(TRACE) Babatunde Akinbiyi confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta yesterday.
Akinbiyi said that four persons were the occupants of the crash that occurred on Saturday inbound Siun around President Muhammadu Buhari Estate along the highway.
He said that three persons sustained injuries while the remaining person was burnt alive in the accident.
The TRACE PRO said that the cause of the crash was the driver of the truck who drove against the traffic resulting to head collusion with one of the escort van which led to the death of one police officer attached to the escort.
He said that operatives of TRACE and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Amotekun were on ground for rescue mission.
Akinbiyi noted that the injured victims had been taken to Osuth by some good samaritan, while the dead body had been taken to Owode Egba General Hospital, Morgue.
He said that the normalcy has returned to the road as accident vehicles had been evacuated to papa oscar cage in Siun mtd.
