“We’re redefining modern royal fashion in Nigeria” — Jolly Precious Amaka, founder, House of Js

House of Js, a Nigerian fashion brand founded by entrepreneur and designer Jolly Precious Amaka, is positioning itself to redefine modern royal fashion through distinctive handbags, clothing and accessories designed for women who value individuality, elegance and authority.

Founded in December 2025, the brand became fully operational in June 2026 with the launch of its debut collection, the Jade Collection, which featured a handbag, clothing pieces and accessories.

Amaka, who has a background in banking and Information Technology, said her decision to establish House of Js was driven by a long-standing passion for distinctive fashion designs.

According to her, the desire to see her designs worn by people eventually led her to leave the IT sector and pursue her childhood ambition in fashion.

“I have always been a lover of distinctive and unpopular designs since childhood. I was born with a gift for designs, and I eventually decided to leave the banking and Information Technology sector to pursue my childhood dream of seeing my designs on people,” Amaka said.

House of Js focuses primarily on creating innovative handbags for women, with designs produced in limited quantities. The brand said its designs are trademarked exclusively to House of Js as part of its effort to establish a distinctive identity in the fashion market.

Operating currently as an online-only store, the brand uses its slogan, “Illuminate Your Reign,” to represent its vision for women who embody confidence, elegance and authority.

Amaka said the brand is targeted at women who want to stand out through limited and distinctive fashion pieces.

“An House of Js woman is a woman who moves with authority, poise and elegance. We create for women who want designs that are distinctive and not commonly seen everywhere,” she said.

The brand’s first major milestone came with the launch of the Jade Collection in June 2026. The collection featured House of Js handbags alongside clothing pieces developed in collaboration with other designers.

According to the founder, the collaboration reflects the brand’s willingness to work with other creative professionals while developing its own identity.

“We worked collaboratively with other designers for some of the clothing pieces released as part of the Jade Collection. We believe collaboration will remain important as we continue to grow,” she said.

Amaka also disclosed that House of Js is preparing to introduce another handbag collection in October 2026 as part of its expansion plans.

The brand’s vision is centred on what it describes as “redefining modern royal fashion in Nigeria”, with its designs inspired by regal aesthetics and intended to encourage customers to express confidence through fashion.

“House of Js is about helping fashion enthusiasts shine and command their reign. Through our statement pieces and regal-inspired designs, we want to create a fashion identity that speaks to quality, confidence and distinction,” Amaka said.

Beyond design, the company currently has a three-member board overseeing key areas of its operations, including design and development, logistics, marketing and its broader growth strategy.

The founder said the organisation plans to increase the size of its leadership and workforce as the business expands.

House of Js is currently funded primarily by its directors, although the company is exploring external funding opportunities, including grants and investment, to support its growth ambitions.

Amaka identified funding as one of the major challenges facing the brand, particularly as it seeks to transition from a Nigerian online fashion business into a global brand.

“Our biggest challenge is funding because we intend to become a global brand. To move to the global stage, we will need the resources to expand our operations and reach more customers,” she said.

Despite the challenge, the founder said the company remains focused on building a sustainable fashion business through hard work, dedication and persistence.

She described the organisational culture as one that combines commitment to work with a sense of community, while acknowledging the role of faith in the company’s journey.

“We are a hardworking and dedicated community, but we also believe in having moments where we play as much as we work. We believe God is the provider and that He blesses the works of our hands, but we also believe that hard work and persistence are vital to achieving success,” she said.

As part of its growth strategy, House of Js plans to deepen collaborations with designers and other stakeholders within the fashion industry.

The company said its partnerships will expand as it grows, with the objective of bringing more creative talents and complementary fashion products into its ecosystem.

Looking ahead, Amaka said the long-term ambition is to establish House of Js as a major fashion brand not only in Nigeria but across Africa.

“Our intention is to become a leading fashion brand in Nigeria, while expanding beyond the country to dress African men and women,” she said.

With plans for new collections, broader partnerships and potential external funding, House of Js is seeking to build on its early milestones and develop a fashion brand centred on limited designs, distinctive aesthetics and what it describes as modern royal fashion.
