
Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has expressed heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Borno State following the devastating floods that ravaged Maiduguri. In a demonstration of solidarity, Governor Lawal has donated ₦100 million to support relief efforts for the affected communities.
The Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Abubakar Nakwada, led a delegation to Borno to deliver the governor’s goodwill message. According to a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the visit was aimed at sympathising with Borno over the “heart-touching” flood disaster.
At the Borno State Government House, Nakwada conveyed Governor Lawal’s sorrow over the catastrophe, which has displaced over one million people due to the overflow of water from the Alu Dam in Maiduguri.
He announced the ₦100 million donation on behalf of Zamfara State, expressing hope that the funds would help alleviate the suffering of the victims.
Governor Lawal also offered prayers for those who lost their lives and urged the affected communities to stay resilient as they rebuild.
