The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has commended Julius Berger Nigeria Plc for its delivery of quality infrastructure projects across the country.
This commendation was made during a ceremony where Julius Berger’s Director of Administration, Dr Abdulaziz Isa Kaita, was honoured with an Award of Excellence in Nation Building.
Speaking at the event, NANS Coordinator Daniel Friday Egga praised the construction giant, stating that many Nigerian students grew up witnessing the company’s significant contributions to the nation’s infrastructure development. “We appreciate the quality of work Julius Berger delivers in Nigeria. Most of the iconic construction projects we see today are done by Julius Berger,” Egga noted.
Egga also acknowledged the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, particularly its efforts to empower young Nigerians through its training academy. He urged leaders in various sectors to prioritise national development, highlighting the importance of nurturing the younger generation.
“As young people, we recognise those making impactful contributions not just to national development, but also to the growth of young Nigerians. These are the individuals we consider role models,” Egga said.
He added that NANS has been actively organising sensitisation programmes in tertiary institutions to tackle social vices like drug abuse and cultism under the philosophy of “catch them young.”
Kaita thanked NANS for the recognition, emphasising that Julius Berger remains committed to Nigeria’s progress. “Since our first project, the Eko Bridge in Lagos in 1965, we have continuously contributed to Nigeria’s development. Our CSR efforts and training academy are part of our commitment to creating opportunities and fostering growth,” Kaita remarked.
Several NANS executives, including Fabong Godwin Nanla, Mary Timothy, Ahemba T. Enoch, and Shobande Aminat Olayinka, attended the event.
