Gov celebrates Igbinedion at 89
In the wake of reforms by Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State aimed at transforming the state into a petrochemical hub, its two modular refineries have continued to wax strong, having a standing order of 300,000 barrels of crude from the Oza oil field.
Decklar Resources Inc and its co-venture, Millennium Oil & Gas Company Limited, which operated the Oza oil field, confirmed that aside from the 200,000 barrels of crude ordered by the Edo Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited, Duport Midstream Company Limited has placed an order of 100,000 barrels of crude from the field.
The products from the modular refineries include diesel, low pour fuel and naphtha. In a statement, Chief Executive Officer of Decklar Resources, Sanmi Fumuyide, said that trucking of crude oil from the Oza Oil Field to the Edo Refinery and Petrochemicals Company Limited facility has reached a cumulative volume of over 55,000 bbls, with 10,000 bbls delivered in 2022 under the initial sale and purchase agreement, as well as over 45,000 bbls delivered so far in 2023.
“Deliveries are continuing under the 200,000 bbls contract. The terms of the 200,000 bbls agreement include an invoicing and payment cycle that is triggered as each 5,000 bbls batch is delivered and offloaded at the Edo refinery,’’ he disclosed.
MEANWHILE, Obaseki has congratulated the Esama of Benin Kingdom, Dr. Osawaru Gabriel Igbinedion, on his 89th birthday anniversary.
The governor, in a statement, eulogised the Esam’s contribution to various sectors of the nation’s economy. He said: “On this auspicious occasion of your 89th birthday, I am filled with gratitude as I join the House of Igbinedion in celebrating you, my father, our father and a true father of Edo State.
“The remarkable impact you have had on our lives and the legacy you have built in the state and the nation deserve commendation. Generations, born and unborn, will live to share in your great exploits, as a titan of industries and pioneer of pioneers. As a relentless pace setter, you paved the way for others to follow and created new frontiers that opened limitless opportunities for Edo people.”
