Nnamani claims authenticity of PDP guber candidate in Enugu

Samson Chukwu Nnamani on Friday declared himself as the authentic governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State for the 2027 elections.

He stated that both the governorship primary allegedly supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Supreme Court’s judgment backing the Abdulraman Mihammed-led faction of the party lends credence to his claims.

Nnamani insisted that the party was no longer factionalised with  INEC’s recognition of the Abdulrahaman-led PDP, noting that the panel that declared him winner came from Abuja.

Nnamani, who made the declaration at a press conference in Enugu, urged residents of the state to ignore other claims to the governorship ticket of the party.

The clarification was made in response to three claims to the governorship candidacy of the PDP in Enugu State.

Former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji and Dona Nwogbo had emerged as governorship candidates from various primaries conducted in the state.

Nnamani, however, questioned the recognition of Nnaji as a member of the PDP when there is no evidence of his joining the party from the APC.

He insisted that Nnaji “is a mole” hired to truncate the rebuilding efforts of PDP members in the state, stressing that he could not sneak into a party through the backdoor.

“He must be received formally,” he said.

Nnamani, who spoke through his Media Director, Dr. Buchi Nnaji, dismissed as “spurious” the allegation that he was suspended from the party before the primary election. He wondered how a suspended aspirant would have been awarded votes in the primary election.

He expressed gratitude to the PDP leadership and supporters whom he said came out in their numbers on Sunday, May 24, 2026, to elect him as the PDP candidate.

He pledged to reposition Enugu State through infrastructure, job creation and people-oriented policies.

“As the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Enugu State, I remain committed to the ideals of good governance, inclusive leadership, economic development, youth empowerment, quality education, improved healthcare, and enhanced security for all residents,” he said.
