Angela Chilotam Nnamani has been honoured with the Tax Trailblazer of the Year award at the 2026 Africa Finance Awards, in recognition of her contributions to tax administration, institutional reforms and public finance development in Nigeria.
The award was presented during the sixth edition of the Africa Finance Festival 2026 held in Lagos, where finance executives, regulators, policymakers and industry stakeholders from across Africa gathered to celebrate achievements within the continent’s financial ecosystem.
Nnamani, who currently heads Returns Payment and Process at the Large Tax Office, Midstream Oil and Gas Office of the Nigeria Revenue Service, was recognised for what organisers described as over 15 years of impactful service in advancing tax administration systems and strengthening public finance processes.
Over the course of her career, she has served in several strategic roles covering tax audit, risk profiling, returns processing and relationship management within the revenue service.
She also previously worked with Akintola Williams Deloitte and Ugboaja Martins & Co as an audit trainee.
Industry stakeholders at the event highlighted her role in pioneering the Tax Incentives Management Office in Lagos, as well as her contributions towards improving compliance structures and operational efficiency within the tax system.
Nnamani also served as Executive Chairman of the Enugu State Internal Revenue Service in 2023, where she led reforms aimed at boosting internally generated revenue, improving institutional efficiency and driving digital transformation in tax administration.
Her academic and professional credentials include fellowships of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria. She is also a Certified Information Systems Auditor with ISACA.
She holds degrees in accounting and finance from Enugu State University of Science and Technology, University of Nigeria, University of Lagos and Babcock University.
Speaking after receiving the award, Nnamani described the recognition as both humbling and motivating, adding that it reinforces her commitment to advancing excellence in tax administration and public finance systems.
She dedicated the award to professionals working behind the scenes to strengthen institutions and improve tax systems across Africa
