Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki; his deputy, Philip Shaibu; former Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, and Chief of Staff to Edo State governor, Osaigbovo Iyoha, were among dignitaries, who paid a condolence visit to former Edo State Governor, Lucky Igbinedion, over the death of his mother, Mrs. Maria Oredola Igbinedion.

Obaseki, who extolled the exemplary life of the late matriarch, said she lived a fulfilled life, in service to God and humanity.

“We don’t want to say much at a time like this, as I have seen the funeral arrangements are in top speed. We want to let you know that you are not alone; we are with you and the entire family.

“We express our condolences to you and your siblings on the passing of mama. It was her time, so she had to go. She has done everything she set out for herself to do in life; thank God for her life. Let’s continue to remember her and thank God for what she stood for,” he said.

Responding, Igbinedion thanked the governor and his entourage for the visit, adding, “At 85 years, mama has lived a very fulfilled life and she is a faithful Catholic and prayed fervently; we learnt that virtue from her.

“Death is a debt that we all must pay. Mama has lived a fulfilled life as a Christian and instilled discipline in us, her children.”

She ensured we put God first, as that is her belief and that is the principle that we are resting our strength on.”
