Ogun govt okays reconstruction of roads

Ogun State Government has approved for reconstruction of additional 11 roads spread across the three senatorial districts of the state. The approval was part of the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting held, at the weekend.
Notable among the roads is the Akute Bridge to Agbado (Lateef Jakande) Train Terminal/Pass/Agbado Bridge, Iperu Junction to Ilishan Roundabout, among others.
Meanwhile, the government has also stressed the need for various Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives of the private sector to align with the people’s needs and government policies.
The state’s Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, stated this during the first Ogun State PR Forum/CSR Exhibition and Awards in Abeokuta, the state capital.
The deputy governor, who was represented by Special Adviser to the Governor on Investment, Sola Arobieke, said: “CSR is about businesses recognising their roles in society beyond profit making. It is about investing in the community, protecting the environment, empowering the underprivileged, and ensuring that businesses contribute positively to the society in which they operate.
“When CSR is strategically aligned with the government policies and development goals, we create a powerful synergy that accelerates progress in education, healthcare, gender equality and infrastructural development.”
Chairman of the occasion and President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr Ike Neliaku, represented by Prof. Emmanuel Dandaura, emphasised the need for a stronger collaboration between the private and public sectors to advance the country’s sustainable development in all sectors.
Also speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of As+A Communication, Adenike Agnes Shobajo, said that the event was a knowledge exchange and policy development forum intended for pioneers of CSR in Nigeria and other key players within the Nigerian public and business sectors.
