Vice President Yemi Osibanjo has commended Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha, for the infrastructure development his administration put in place during his eight-year rule in the state.

Osinbajo disclosed this yesterday when he inaugurated several completed projects built under the Okorocha administration, describing the governor as a great achiever and congratulating Imo people on his feat.

His words: “I have gone round the state on several occasions to look at so many projects that the governor has done. As a matter of fact, on one occasion, we went to see one of the Universities that he had just completed.

“When I went round that University Complex, I realized that there is simply no other University that has the kind physical facilities like that University has, at least in the history of Nigeria.

“So, I felt that it is very important to recognise what the governor has done in these past eight years. He is extremely commendable and I don’t know many others that have done the amount of work he has done, especially the infrastructure, schools and hospitals, among others that he has built.

“I have also commissioned hospital premises of the Air Force, the Police and others like them at three or four places. A lot of these projects like he said are not advertised or published.

“I’ve always found him very strange. I must say so because he’s otherwise someone who is not quiet but decided to keep quiet about his achievements. I’ve not been able to understand that because anybody who knows him will not say he’s a quiet man.

“I wait to say that he has done extremely well in the past eight years and sometimes his contemporaries will choose to make loud noise for very few they have achieved.”

Osinbajo stated that posterity would judge Okorocha positively saying what he has done was truly commendable, adding: “I’m sure that posterity will not forget you in a hurry. I am here to Commission 50 projects, but I am 62 years old, so, I will do what he did on Thursday when he commissioned some of the projects on-line.”

Speaking, Okorocha said the Imo International Exhibition Centre was renamed Professor Yemi Osinbajo Exhibition Centre, adding that local products would always be on display there even for export, while the four buildings in the Complex represent the four market days in Igboland including Afor, Eke, Orie and Nkwo.

The governor narrated how he was motivated to make his presence felt after Osinbajo visited the state and advised him to work hard to prove a point to his people.

“I invited you to come and commission some projects in Imo State. Few years ago when you visited Imo, you advised me to make my works known to the people and I disagreed with you on the excuses that there was no need to commission projects, because I was considering the money involved.

“But as time went on, I came to realise that the advice was a wise one. Although, I took the advice very late, that is why I called you to be among the first to commission some of the projects to actualise the advice you gave me,” he said.
