The Olubadan-in-Council will, today, hold a press conference to decide on succession plan for the next Olubadan of Ibadan.
Dele Ogunsola, Media Consultant to Chief Lekan Balogun, who is widely believed to emerge the next Olubadan, barring unforeseen circumstances, told The Guardian that the media briefing will hold 12noon at the Mapo Hall, Ibadan.

It was learnt that the conference would clarify on who becomes the next monarch.

Meanwhile, the Baale of Ekotedo in Oyo State, Tayo Ayorinde, has advised the Otun Olubadan, Balogun, to apologise to Ibadan people for his role in the 2018 litigation over the kingship.

Ayorinde spoke while responding to the controversy over Balogun’s ascension as the next Olubadan. It would be recalled that in 2018, Balogun and other Olubadan-in-Council members engaged the late Oba Saliu Adetunji in a battle that saw them crown 21 kings in Ibadan, with the backing of the late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi.

BESIDES, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, yesterday, applauded the peaceful reign of the late Oba Saliu Adetunji, Aje Ogunguniso 1.

Makinde, who was represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola, at the third Day Special Interfaith and Prayer Service, at the palace of the late Olubadan, assured that the incoming Olubadan would continue in the same peaceful fashion.

A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Taiwo Adisa, quoted the governor as saying: “The late Olubadan was a peace-loving father of all and, definitely, his six years reign was wonderful to the people of Ibadan and Oyo State in general.

Earlier before the Fidau prayers by Muslim clerics, Bishop Samuel Olawode of Maranatha Cathedral, in a Christian funeral service, compared the late monarch to King Hezekiah in the Bible and recounted his disposition to religious tolerance.

Also in his sermon, Prof. Khamil Olosho, stressed the need for righteous living, bearing in mind that death, judgment, reward and after life would be the finality of mankind.

MEANWHILE, the father of former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, Oba David Omisore, who was the Olu of Olode in Ife South Council, has died at the age of 90.

Confirming the death of Pa Omisore, who turned 90 in July 2021, a member of the Senator Omisore media team, Musefiu Kolawole Afolabi told The Guardian on the telephone that Oba Omisore died in the early hours of yesterday.

When contacted, the Chief Press Secretary to Osun State Governor, Ismail Omipidan, said the government would react once the family officially notifies it of the development.
