The flagbearer of the Social Democratic Party Iyiola Omisore has agreed to work with the People’s Democratic Party in the Osun state re-run election holding on Thursday.

This is coming after the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, met with Omisore at Ile-Ife on Monday.

“We have agreed to work together because our goals are the same. We all want good governance in Osun State. Over the next 24 hours, we will work out the details,” Saraki tweeted.

Omisore who is the SDP in the election which the candidate of the PDP, Ademola Adeleke, came first with 254, 698 votes while the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gboyega Oyetola, came second with 254,345 votes.

Adeleke was, however, not declared the winner because the margin of his victory was only 353 votes, and could not earn him victory when weighed against the number of votes cancelled, which amounted to 3,498 votes, the Independent National Electoral Commission said.

The polling units which were listed for the re-run election by the INEC includes three polling units in Orolu Local Government Area, two units in Ife South Local Government Area, one in Ife North Local Government Area and one in Osogbo Local Government Area.

Some of the polling units where the rerun election will be held – Ife North and Ife South, where Omisore is popular.

Recall that Saraki, who also heads the party’s 85-member governorship campaign council in the state, had before the election reconciled the row between Adeleke and Akin Ogunbiyi, an aspirant that lost in the party’s primary election.
