Ondo ADC demand constitution of new leadership amid claims of lack of cohesion.

A coalition of leaders and chieftains within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ondo State chapter, has called for the constitution of a new State Executive Committee following allegations of lack of unity and cohesion within the party.

The demand stemmed from the coalition of four major blocs that had formed a united front of the current party structure in the state.

Speaking during a press briefing in Akure, the state capital, on Tuesday, the coalition called for the immediate constitution of a new state executive committee under the leadership of Sola Ebiwonjumi.

According to the coalition which comprised the PDP group, the Labour and Obidient Movement, ADC Aborigines and the Omoluabi group, the leaders stressed that the current chairman’s leadership style has fostered disunity, thereby jeopardising the party’s stability ahead of the 2027 political activities.

While describing itself as a progressive-minded majority within the ADC structure of the state, the coalition accused the current leadership of abandoning the principles of inclusivity and collective decision-making within the party.

Ebiwonjumi, who was flanked by leaders of the party during the press briefing, emphasised that the current crisis is rooted in the domineering influence of a specific leader, with claims of consistently frustrating attempts at dialogue and equitable power-sharing.

He said, “This persistent imposition and disregard for collective decisions have made meaningful progress impossible. After exhausting all avenues for reconciliation, consultation, and internal resolution, we are left with no viable alternative.

“We therefore categorically declare as follows: the immediate removal of the current state chairman, Barr. Wole Ademoyegun, whose leadership has failed to ensure fairness, inclusiveness, and cohesion within the party.

“The coalition in Ondo State is made up of four major blocs: The PDP group is ably led by Prof. Bode Ayorinde. The Labour Party/Obedient Movement led by Prof. Biodun Ambode. The ADC Aborigines under the leadership of Barr. Nejo Myson. The Omoluabi Group, led by Hon. Femi Johnson

“The urgent constitution of a new, broad-based State Executive Committee under the able leadership of the honourable Sola Ebiwonjumi, the new exco in conjunction with all 18 chairmen of all the local governments and all the ward chairmen across the state, genuinely reflects all interests and stakeholders across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State.

“A firm commitment to rebuilding the party on the principles of justice, equity, transparency, and collective leadership ahead of the forthcoming congress. This decision is not taken lightly, but it is necessary to rescue the party from unilateral control and restore the confidence of all members.

“We remain resolute in our determination to ensure that the ADC in Ondo State becomes a true platform for democratic participation, fairness, and progress.

“There isn’t any faction in the party in the state. The only party structure today in this state is the party structure. There isn’t any faction. And that is the position of the party in this state. The crisis has been removed because the person who was creating that crisis has been suspended from the party.
