Troops of Sector 2 Operation Fansan Yamma have on Sunday on 30th August 2026 have successfully foiled terrorists’ attack along Ghandi town in the Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division, Nigeria Army, Lt. Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, saying that the troops acting on credible intelligence indicating the movement of an armed bandits in Ghandi town, swiftly deployed to strategic positions near the Ghandi bridge to intercept the threat.

The statement added that Sector 2 Operation Fansan Yamma, upon making contact, the troops engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, overpowering the terrorists and forced them to retreat in disarray.

It said that during the confrontation, several terrorists sustained various degrees of injuries as they attempted to escape by jumping into the adjacent river.

“A subsequent clearance and search operation conducted at daybreak resulted in the recovery of operational items left behind by the fleeing terrorists, including one AK-47 rifle, one loaded magazine, additional rounds of ammunition and various personal effects”, he added.

“Search and mop-up operations are currently ongoing in the general area to track down the fleeing suspects”
