Following his victorious outing at the election petitions tribunal on Monday, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has extended hand of fellowship to his major challenger in the 2019 governorship election, Emmanuel Jime of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Jime, a barrister, had challenged the declaration of Ortom as governor by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) alleging irregularity in the election.

But the tribunal sitting in Makurdi voided the APC candidate’s petition and reaffirmed Ortom as the elected governor of the ‘Food Basket’ state.

The governor, through his spokesman, Terver Akase, extended hand of fellowship to his rivals in the election, maintaining that “politics is over; now is time for governance.”
