Ortom urges FG to curb destitution, boost production
Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has urged the Federal Government to take the World Bank report on the increasing number of destitutes in the country seriously and work proactively towards curbing the social ill.
Ortom gave the advice, yesterday, shortly after a courtesy call on him by the Feed The Future Nigeria Agri-business Investment Activity led by Mr. Farouk Lawan, Deputy Chief of Party.
The governor said the regular production of graduates by various institutions without a corresponding employment measures, demands an urgent need to boost the productive sector through youth empowerment opportunities.
The Governor pledged to collaborate with Feed The Future Nigeria Agribusiness Investment to promote agricultural activities in the state through training and capacity building.
Lawan said the organisation would soon embark on capacity building and training of market women in agribusiness. He said farmers in the state would also be trained on how to access loans.
