The Oyo Renaissance Crusade (ORC) has commended Governor Seyi Makinde, security agencies and other stakeholders for securing the safe release of teachers and schoolchildren abducted in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

In a statement issued by its Director-General, Comrade Yinka Gbadebo, the group described the rescue as a huge relief to the victims’ families, the education community and residents of the state.

According to the ORC, the successful operation has strengthened public confidence in the government’s ability to respond effectively to security challenges.

The group praised the professionalism, resilience and coordination displayed by the security agencies involved, describing their commitment and sacrifice as vital to safeguarding lives and maintaining peace across the state.

It also paid tribute to Governor Makinde for what it described as his decisive leadership and commitment to ensuring the safe return of the victims.

“The Governor’s handling of the incident reflects a leadership style that places the welfare, security and dignity of the people above every other consideration,” the statement said.

The ORC noted that Makinde has consistently prioritised security through sustained investment in security infrastructure, support for law enforcement agencies, intelligence gathering and community-based security initiatives.

The group, however, used the occasion to endorse the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Movement (APM), Hon. Bimbo Adekambi, ahead of the next governorship election.

It said Adekambi represents the best opportunity to sustain the security architecture and development initiatives introduced under the Makinde administration.

The ORC urged residents to continue supporting security agencies through vigilance and timely intelligence sharing, stressing that maintaining security remains a collective responsibility.

It also congratulated the rescued teachers and pupils and prayed for lasting peace and continued development in Oyo State.
