The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has advised Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to accept the election petition tribunal’s verdict that Senator Ademola Adeleke of the PDP won the September 22, 2018 governorship election in the state.

The party urged Oyetola to “salvage his eroding integrity” by choosing not to appeal the judgement of the tribunal that sacked him as governor of Osun.

By accepting the option of not appealing the judgement, the PDP said Oyetola would be seen as a hero, a development that may offer him even bigger political opportunity in the future.

In a statement signed yesterday by its deputy national publicity secretary of the party, Diran Odeyemi, PDP also urged Oyetola to search his conscience and ask himself if he truly won the election.

He stated: “We are aware that the sacked governor of Osun, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, professes Islam which, like other religions, teaches fairness, equality, peace and truthfulness. He should search his conscience and ask this pertinent question, ‘did I truly win the governorship election?’

“Sentiments apart, Oyetola is a refined gentleman, very religious, but whose gubernatorial election was favourably manipulated by APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to discredit his person and personal belief. We believe he will not want his integrity to be dragged in the mud.”
