Peter Obi, the 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed gratitude over reports of Pope Leo XIV’s successful surgery, praying for the Catholic pontiff’s complete recovery and renewed strength.

Obi said he had kept the Pope, who heads the Catholic Church and serves as Sovereign of Vatican City, in his earnest prayers ahead of the medical procedure.

In a message of gratitude and hope, the former Anambra State governor thanked God for seeing the Holy Father through the surgery and expressed optimism about his recovery.

He also prayed for divine guidance for the Pope’s medical team, asking God to sustain them as they continue to care for the pontiff.

“May God continue to guide his medical team, sustain him in this period of recovery and grant him the grace to return fully to his pastoral duties,” Obi said.
