Pius seeks N4m for medical treatment

A 51-year-old, Enefiok Nyong Pius, who is a graduate of Statistics has pleaded with well-meaning Nigerians to assist him financially to undergo medical treatment at Federal Medical Centre Ebute-Metta, Lagos.

Pius, a father of three told The Guardian that he need N4 million to treat blindness of two eyes, right leg amputated above the knee, kidney problem, diabetes mellitus and high blood pressure and other ailments.

He said the problems started when he had road accident and now needs financial support to improve the quality of his life by having proper medications and quality medical treatment.

A statement from Federal Medical Centre, said Pius is a known patient of their facility being managed by the orthopeadic and internal medical department.

“He was first seen in the hospital on August 12, 2020, on account of poor healing of a right above knee amputated stump. He has been having regular wounds dressing and a protruding bony mass was removed from the stump on April 16, 2021.

“He was last seen at the orthopaedic clinic on May 28, 2021. He would benefit from a lower limb prosthesis artificial limb for better ambulation.”

A younger brother to the patient, Ubong Nyong Pius, said his brother has been surviving through help from family members, church members, friends and well-wishers, adding that it is now beyond their capacity.

He said: “My brother had diabetes and diabetes led to cataract, we have been taking him to different places for treatment such as Oyo and Ogun states, including Gbagada General Hospital, Lagos for treatment, but the sickness persists”.
