Police arrest five-man robbery gang in Ogun

Ogun State police command has arrested a five-man robbery gang terrorising Iperu/Shagamu/Ode Remo area of the state.

The suspects

Ogun State police command has arrested a five-man robbery gang terrorising Iperu/Shagamu/Ode Remo area of the state.
 
The suspects, namely: Moruf Abidogun, Usman Adeyemi, Fisayo Aliu, Afees Adesina and Dauda Lekan were arrested following a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Iperu divisional headquarters.
 

   
The hoodlums were operating along Ogere road, where they were dispossessing innocent members of the public of their belongings.
     
When alerted, the DPO Iperu division, Waheed Oni quickly moblised his men in conjunction with the area command’s anti-robbery team, Sagamu anti-robbery team, Ogere patrol team and moved to the scene.

On sighting the policemen, the hoodlums, who had already snatched a Toyota Corolla car marked GGE 733 FL took to their heels, but policemen pursued and arrested five of them.
 

 
The Guardian learnt that the gang had their base in Lagos, but came to Iperu for operations because one of them is residing in the town.

One locally made pistol and the Toyota Corolla car were recovered from the suspects.

MEANWHILE, the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation.
