Police recover 99 cows, 128 goats from armed rustlers in Katsina
About 230 animals have been recovered from armed rustlers at Kadobe village in Jibia Council of Katsina State.The Guardian learnt that the rustlers had on Thursday evening moved most of the animals from the residence of one Tasiu Hamisu.
But the police reportedly accosted them shortly after the operation, and gunfire exchange ensued.Though no life was lost, the animals were rescued from the rustlers who eventually escaped.
Police spokesman in the state, SP Gambo Isah, confirmed the incident yesterday in a statement.“On October 17, 2019 about 05.51 hours, a distress call was received from Kadobe village of Daddara Jibiya Council that unknown gunmen invaded the village and carted away cows and goats.
“Joint patrol teams, consisting of Operation Puff Adder and Operation Sharan Daji, were mobilised to the scene and they gave the bandits a hot chase.“The operatives blocked all possible exit routes and engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel, and succeeded in dislodging them,” he stated. According to him, 99 cows, 128 goats and one donkey were recovered and handed over to the owner, Hamisu. “Investigation is ongoing to trace and arrest the unrepentant bandits,” he added.
