The Executive Director, National Center for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), Ilorin, Kwara State, Dr. Yomi Kasali has urged political office holders to invest more in women and youths towards effective development of vulnerable population.

Kasali, while addressing over 100 youths and women from Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, yesterday, in Ilorin, said the Federal Government could not exclusively provide for all the needs of the nation’s population, urging political office holders ‘’of all cadres’’ to assist in the area of empowerment.

According to him, ‘’the most populous cadres of any society are the women and the youths. But unfortunately in Nigeria, we seem not to reckon with this reality. We believe wrongly that only the Federal Government should cater for them.”

Kasali stressed the importance of agriculture in the nation’s Gross Domestic Products (GDP), just as he said that Mechanised agriculture is the greatest source of employment for the population.

He added that NCAM as an institution is positioned to mechanise Nigerian agriculture through developing and fabricating simple and low cost machines.
