Ahead of the presidential and governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a former representative of Eti-Osa Constituency in Lagos State at the House of Representatives, Jide Akinloye, has charged delegates and members to choose Bola Tinubu as the party’s presidential flagbearer for next year’s election.

Akinloye, who spoke at a gathering of party faithful convened by the Humble Prince Organisation (HPO) in Lagos, said the choice of Tinubu would be a vote for performance, competence and integrity, which are the core values required for purposeful leadership.

The former House of Representatives member, who stated that the essence of the gathering was to galvanise constituents afresh for the party and the aspirations of some notable leaders ahead of the upcoming elections, also canvassed a return to office of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu because of “his activities and achievements so far in office.”

The former Reps member, who stated that the essence of the gathering was to galvanise constituents afresh for the party and the aspirations of some notable leaders ahead of the upcoming elections, also canvassed for a return to office of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu because of “his activities and achievements so far in office.”

He said: “Look at the first term of Governor Sanwo-Olu in Lagos, for example, in spite of the various challenges, especially COVID-19, he has still done excellently with his ideas. In addition to the red line railway project, which would be a massive economic boost for the state, in Eti-Osa constituency, a regional road is also being constructed. These are some legacy projects that would impact the lives of residents and visitors. And he deserves another term to consolidate on some of the projects and do more.”

Addressing thousands of HPO members at the gathering, Akinloye, who founded the group five years ago, said the group had metamorphosed from just a political organisation to one that also caters to members’ welfare.

He informed the gathering that in addition to vocational trainings and assisting members to set up business ventures to sustain their livelihoods, HPO was in the process of signing partnerships with some microfinance companies in order to avail members the opportunity of accessing funds for businesses.

Chairman of the group, Saheed Ejalonibu, encouraged members to be prepared to get their voters’ card to vote en masse for candidates with the right values. He stressed that participating in politics and the elections was the only way to speak for more development in the society.
