Residents escape as another building collapses in Lagos
Less than a week after a three-storey building that claimed 10 lives collapsed in Ebute Metta area of Lagos, another two-storey building on Chris Igadi Street, off Ago Palace Way, yesterday, caved in.
Residents revealed that the building gave signs several hours before it crumpled.
Fortunately, nobody was trapped, as all occupants exited the area when the signs manifested, two hours before the final collapse.
According to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), a head count of occupants was carried out to ensure no occupant was missing, and the remains of the building were cordoned off.
The operation was concluded at about 5:23 a.m.
LASEMA said the site would be handed over to Lagos State Building Control Agency (LABSCA) and Ministry of Physical Planning for further investigation.
