One hundred and eighty pupils each from Ore-Ofe Primary School, Local Government Primary School and Community Primary School all in Egbe area of Lagos State, have benefitted from the basic education and literacy programme of the Rotary Club of Egbe, which is one of the six focal areas of Rotary International.

Beneficiaries of the project were given school bags and exercise books to boost their performance in class. The project, which cost N400,000 was aimed at motivating other pupils who did not fall into the category to brace up and perform better in the next term.

Speaking at the event, president of the club, Gbenga Oduneye, said while some category of pupils who had been doing very well were given bags, others got exercise books, an initiative aimed at stirring up those pupils that had not been doing well to face their studies squarely and be recipients of similar gifts in future. He added that the gesture would be a continuous exercise.

Head teacher at Ore-Ofe Primary School, Mrs. Florence Olorode, expressed appreciation towards the club’s gesture. Similarly, the head teacher of Local Government Primary School, Egbe, Mrs. Evelyn Olawole, thanked the club for its magnanimity.
