FADAN Kagoma in Jemaa Local Council of Kaduna State came alive recently when the Kpop Gwong (Sarkin Kagoma), His Highness PZ Wyom, turbaned the Finance Director of the African Olympic Committee (ANOC), Dr Jonathan Dyagas, as the Njet Gwong (Star of Gwong land).
The prestigious traditional title recognizes Dyagas’ wisdom, integrity and contributions to national development.
The ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including members of the national and state assemblies, members of the ANOC, Nigerian Olympic Commission (NOC), local council chairmen, the Sa’in Zazzau, and nine traditional rulers from Zone III, the Vice President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, captains of industry, serving and retired members of the armed forces and paramilitary officers, politicians and religious leaders, among others.
The title bestowed on Dyagas signifies a high level of confidence in his leadership and commitment to the community and Nigeria at large.
At the end of the event, the dignitaries congratulated Dyagas, highlighting his humility, statesmanship and dedication to humanity. They described the newest Njet Gwong as a bridge-builder, philanthropist, and patriot whose contributions to peace and progress are noteworthy.
The ceremony featured more than 13 cultural troupes, singers and comedians, who came together to strengthen the cultural heritage and unity of the Gwong people.
